Our Mission
Our Mission
Soulstrong Arts Blog allows artists and art lovers an opportunity to promote community events and our views. Through daily posts and collaborations we address our thoughts on events within the community. In addition, we seek to share interviews with artists and feature studio visits.
artist and art happenings across the DC area: exhibits, performances, public art, and inspiring neighborhoods:
- The Gateway Arts District: Hyattsville, Brentwood, North Brentwood, Mt. Rainier
- Surrounding Suburbs: College Park, Greenbelt, Silver Spring
- The DC Arts District (U Street/Shaw/Logan), Dupont, Columbia Heights, Gallery Place and more
Our Purpose
Soulstrong serves as a vehicle that artists and art aficionados use to promote local events as well as their views on the arts in the DC area.
Whether through blog posts or through local collaborations, we also address and engage our thoughts and findings on various topics, places, and things. We are a collective of growing artists eager to act within our community.
Soulstrong Arts Blog is run by several guest bloggers. Click here to meet them. If you have any comments/questions/concerns, please contact Justin.
Why Soulstrong Arts Blog was created:
As a Baltimore native and as someone who’s lived in the DC area for over 5 years, I’ve seen the impact that people can have on one another just by opening up their homes and streets to creativity. Experience open forums, in gallery exhibits, in impromptu theatre performances, late-night and early-morning discussions, street festivals, and the like. I’m exploring how news media and social networking tie into a growing artist’s life as I seek to promote both myself and the things I care about. Most art blogs seem to lack an intimate appeal: They need reviews, impressions, critiques, and the passions that drive people to have a journal. I would like Soulstrong Arts Blog to act as a community post, where everyday people recognize the power they have when they share stories and find passion in their lives.
