L’Enfant Plaza Mall – One Year Later

So one year later, I’m visiting the Tidal Basin and the renovation on the new side of L’Enfant Plaza Mall is in full bloom. A food court connecting to the old (new vacant) mall with a handful of new retailers, this I’m sure is a treat for those who work around here. Last time I was here, I was concerned the red and white would look too drastic, but it looks rather nice and sophisticated with these chains here. Now I wonder what they’ll do with the old mall side.

The Potters’ Guild of Baltimore in Rockberry, Baltimore

I just found a pottery studio and gallery that has an eclectic mix of decorative and functional crafts, for very inexpensive prices. I’m seeing $20-$40 for teapots, vases, mugs. I’m seeing $10 plates… And if you’re looking for decorative items that also function, you know these prices are rare. More information at http://www.pottersguild.com

Gutierrez Studios in Clipper Mill, Woodberry, Baltimore

I’ve stumbled across a gorgeous furniture design studio at Clipper Mill in Woodberry, who helped lead the area’s transformation. They create beautiful furniture items such as lamps, tables, chairs, and a lot more I’m sure. Their showroom is open for parties as well as visits, and it’s a rare find for me to see such a calming yet invigorating space. It truly embodies the beauty and energy in clever yet present works of art. The type of design that stands still and yet its presence is known.
